Biography :

Suzanne Mumford QN is a highly respected dementia care leader, Queen’s Nurse, and nationally recognized specialist in dementia care with more than 40 years of experience in health and social care. She currently serves as Director of Clinical & Dementia Care at KYN, where she leads clinical governance, nursing services, allied health initiatives, and dementia care strategy across the organization. Suzanne began her career in 1980 as a care assistant before training as a nurse and specializing in neurology and neurosurgery. Throughout her career, she has held senior leadership positions in quality improvement, education, governance, and dementia services. Prior to joining KYN, she served as Head of Nursing, Care and Dementia Services at Care UK and later worked as a Dementia Specialist with Octopus Capital. A passionate advocate for person-centred, evidence-based care, Suzanne is known for translating research into practical improvements that enhance the lives of people living with dementia and their families. Her expertise spans clinical leadership, dementia care innovation, safeguarding, workforce development, quality assurance, and service transformation. She is also a frequent speaker at national dementia conferences and has contributed to shaping best practices across the UK care sector. Suzanne’s commitment to dementia care is deeply personal, having cared for both of her parents who lived with dementia. This experience continues to inform her compassionate approach to supporting individuals, families, and care professionals. She has received numerous accolades, including recognition as a Queen’s Nurse, the William Rathbone X Award for Executive Nurse Leadership, and the National Dementia Care Award for Inspirational Leadership.
