Prof. Dr. Gabriele Saretzki is a German-born biomedical scientist and ageing researcher based at Newcastle University, UK, where she has worked for many years within the Institute for Ageing / Biosciences Institute. She is widely known for her research on telomeres, telomerase biology, cellular senescence, oxidative stress, and neurodegeneration. Academic background and career Completed her PhD in 1990 at Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany) Conducted postdoctoral research in ageing and telomere biology Joined Newcastle University around 2001–2002 Became a Lecturer in Ageing Research at Newcastle University in the early 2000s Later worked within the Campus for Ageing and Vitality (Newcastle University) She is currently described as a senior academic / visiting lecturer / retired but active researcher in ageing biology at Newcastle.
