Biography :
Dr. Yingying Zhang is instructor in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital. She received her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harvard University, where she trained with Dr. Kevin Eggan and studied the function of ALS-assoicated gene C9orf72. The discovery of C9orf72’s role in regulating autoimmunity sparked her interest in how the peripheral immune system influences the central nervous system. She subsequently joined the Carroll lab at the Boston Children’s Hospital. Her work there integrates spatial transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, and neuroimmunology to investigate complement-mediated mechanisms in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
